Presidents Vision

In 2010/11 Rottingdean and Saltdean Lions Club raised £17,500, a considerable achievement bearing in mind the recent financial climate. This ensured that the Club could provide support for The Martletts, Chestnut Tree House Hospice plus many other community groups locally. Needless to say, I hope this trend will be maintained in 2011/12.

Although I will be President for the forthcoming year only, I believe it is important to look beyond the next 12 months and into the next 5 years.

Due to a considerable increase in the number of other local fundraising events being held in the area, we will be presented with additional challenges. We therefore, need to consider how best to meet these challenges and continue to provide Service and funds for Charities and needy causes in the area.

Sadly, a number of Lions Clubs are being forced to close due to lack of members, resulting in a significant reduction in the support Lions Clubs are able to give to their respective communities. I am very pleased however, that our Club is currently in a more fortunate position largely due to our Members’ continued commitment, dedication and enthusiasm. The recruitment of new active members who are willing to support our Club’s long term aims, objectives and service provisions locally is however, essential to ensure the vigour of our Club is sustained.

Planning and implementing any changes which will move members nearer to their vision of an ideal club will, I hope, achieve greater fun and fellowship, and subsequently secure the long term future of our Club.

We are unfailingly grateful for the support we receive from wives, partners, Friends, and the generosity of Businesses and the local community. All combine to help Rottingdean and Saltdean Lions continue “to serve.”

I am proud to be a member of a Club that, due to the dedication and effort of its members, is able to make a difference to so many individuals and groups within our community. I look forward to 2011/12 with optimism and enthusiasm.
